Awesome track by Opeth - great fingerpicking exercise. Tabs included and parts played slowly and shown from different angles this time so you can see the right hand finger patterns. Have fun, enjoy, any questions please message me. Good luck with it Bob K. Sorry about the 60 seconds of nothingness at the end??? Also the sticky tape on my guitar is a big no-no but I had no choice, kept getting 'cable buzz'. Used a Gerard Gilet classical guitar (1993) and a Rode M3 mic with a Line 6 Spider 30w amp. Sony vegas for the video edit and Cubase for the audio.

Jan 13, 2012 - Hey Dirk, great to hear from you too...yes it's been too long but I'm back. Also great that you are playing your acoustic and it's going well, love to hear it some time. Still working on Night and Silent Water, I know the parts but just getting a good sound on my distortion setting is proving difficult when it comes to recording. Will let you know when it's up. Happy New Year to you and all the best Eezer

Jan 13, 2012 - Thanks for coming back to watch my videos again Faxe. Yes I have my copy of Heritage and I love it. Didn't at first (took about 2 weeks) but it has been on high rotation since. As for favourites I love Devil's Orchard, Hax Process, Folklore and Nepenthe but I'd love to do a cover of Marrow of the Earth or Pyre, maybe even Face in the Snow. I had a look at Hax Process to cover but the timing is ridiculous. No doubt I'll give one of them a go. See what happens. Thanks again Eezer

Jan 13, 2012 - Glad you like it, went through a similar experience with it. I certainly wanted them to do something different since another album in the style of Watershed would have been kinda borin. So it had to grow on to me a bit but is now on high rotation here too. Been playing Devil's Orchard recently, though not in full speed yet. Hax Process seems quite doable to me from the tab I found and I'm not good at timing - maybe because I listened to it that much.

Jan 13, 2012 - Looking forward to any covers anyway! Imo one of the absolute album climaxes is the doomy transverse flute part in Famine with the heavy overblowing/breathing. Reminds me of an attacking snake for instance. I also recommend the making of DVD which was included in the limited edition.

Jan 14, 2012 - Hi Eezer. Another great lesson. You really pick up the flaws in the tabs available online. Furthermore you've just got handy tips for playing Opeths stuff. Incredible clean playing and easy to follow as usual. Cheers from a Danish fan - Please keep up the good work. You deserve more recognition.

Jan 15, 2012 - Hi, if you put a capo on anywhere it raises the pitch of the string. Your example is B Minor so with a capo on the 2nd fret you would play an A minor shape to achieve the B minor chord rather than a bar chord at 2nd fret. Therefore making it easier to play that chord, not necessarily easier to play the entire song as it depends what the rest of the song includes. Hopefully this helps. Thanks for watching my video Eezer

Jan 23, 2012 - Hi grev, thanks for coming to watch my vids again and for your generous comments. Been meaning to do a lesson on this song for ages so it's good to see it finished and people checking it out. You're right the online tabs are dodgy as hell so it's always helpful to have correct notes (relatively). I'll do more in the future and let you know when they're up. Thanks again. Eezer

Jan 23, 2012 - Thanks for your comments, I'd love to do Dirge for November too but I'd have to learn it first. Actually Dirge was the very first song I heard by this band back in 2005 and I haven't looked back since. Great stuff. Thanks again for watching and there will be more. Eezer

Jan 23, 2012 - Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. That's very kind of you to say that, makes it all worthwhile. Can't go wrong when the writing is as sublime as Mikael's. I started playing classical guitar years ago but I was completely seduced by Opeth's music from the first day I heard it. Didn't think I'd ever play metal but there you go. More to come and good luck with your playing. Thanks again, Eezer

Feb 22, 2012 - Thats why Opeth is the best, they actually show you how to play their songs. I have been playing this with out a capo. The notes are basically the same but the finger placement and everything with it are different.
