Liquid immediately formed at the bottom of her eyes. "Miranda? You're ex?" she whispered. "Yes, but it meant NOTHING" "Well, how the fuck am I suppose to make sure of that Joe?" she snapped. She jumped off the truck as her tears ran down her face. She yanked the door open and sat in the passenger seat with her arms crossed. As Joe opened the door she said, "Take me home. Now" with a stern voice. "A-Alright" he whispered before he started the car. "But Demi, just know that I love-" "Joe, not now. You. Kissed. Her. You fucking cheated on me." "Demi, I didn't mean to! It didn't even mean anything!"' "I don't care." She crossed her arms and sunk down in her seat staring into the darkness. The whole car ride was absolute silence. Not one word was said. Joe was at the verge of tears. This was their very first while dating. Knowing that by a stupid mistake he could lose something so important to him crushed him. He couldn't imagine his life without her. He thought even after he told her then, he would feel good about himself because he said the truth. But those events never happened. And now, he felt like shit. Demi's head was against the window, but when she saw her house she opened the door and stepped out. Instead of a goodnight kiss she slammed the door of his truck and also the door to her house. Once Joe was alone he cursed at himself. Over and over. He slammed his fist into the steering wheel, "Fuck!" "No, this is not ending like this" he whispered to himself as he got out of the car. When walking to Demi's door he saw Demi's light turn on. He rang the doorbell as he did an hour ago and waited impatiently. He rang it again and again. He knew Demi was the one not answering him because her parents went to an old friend's wedding. He banged on the door for hours and hours. But nothing. Demi never opened her door. Never even told him to go away. All she did was crawl in a ball and let the silent tears roll of her face in the darkness as Joe banged on the door loudly until 2 30am. He slid down the door once he noticed Demi wasn't going to open her door and his head drifted to the side and soon he was falling asleep. Demi woke up with dried tears on her cheeks. She laid there, letting her eyes adjust to the bright light coming from her bedroom window. She absentmindly got up and made her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth before going downstairs to get the mail she forgot to pick up yesterday. Her hand turned the doorknob of the front door but as her front porch was revealed she saw something, or someone at the corner of her eye. She gasped once she noticed it was Joe. Kneeling down she whispered, "Joe" she shook him lightly before his eyes started to open. "Demi" his eyes brightened. "...Joe" she paused, "You stayed all night?" "...Yeah. I banged on the door the whole night but there was no answer." She didn't respond. "Demi I'm so sorry." His eyes lost their shine, "You know I love you more than anything in my life" "Yes, Yes, Joe, I know that" she hugged him. A sigh of relief escaped from Joe as he hugged his best friend back. She pulled away just enough so she could press her lips against his. She felt his smile. 7 Years Later- With their hands, intertwined they laid on Demi's bare knee since she was wearing a floral dress. Her head was resting against Joe's right shoulder. She was looking at the toddlers in front of her run around from the slides to the swings, from the swings to the monkey bars and back to the slides again. Honestly, it amazed her. A soul being so innocent and pure and happy. This playground had always been her favorite spot in town, and there has not been a time where she has been here without Joe. If Joe wouldn't come, then she refused to go. But Joe rarely said no to her since he loved watching her eyes light up. He kissed her hair. "I love you" he whispered randomly. She shut her eyes and smiled at his touch. She brought his hand to her lips and kissed it. "And I love you" she pressed her hand against Joe's lips. "I love you more" he whispered in her ear. "Um, no you don't." "Yes, I do" "Joe, shut the fuck up. No you don't" "I love you enough to go sky diving. My biggest fear" "I love you enough to give up everything for you." "I love you enough to die for you." She looked at him and caught his eye, "That wouldn't matter because as soon as I find out you were dead I would kill myself to spend the after life with you..." "Well, I love you enough to kill" "I love you enough to get a tattoo." "I love you enough to make a fool of myself in front of millions of people. Just to make you smile" She smiled at him, "Kay. You love me more" "Yes," he kissed her temple, "and to show you..." he let go of her and got down on one knee. Demi eyes widen.
